 Clubs and Activities Information

 

1.)  Academic Bowl Team – The Academic Bowl Team is an opportunity for some top 4th and 5th grade students to compete against their county peers in organized matches.  The questions range from all academic subjects.  Available to fourth and fifth graders who wish to participate in the annual CCSD Academic Bowl. Students “try out” for a limited number of spots.  Practice occurs immediately after school.  Parents provide transportation to practice games after school and to the CCSD Saturday event. 2.)  Chorus – The Chorus provides an opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students interested in learning about and performing music. Fourth and fifth grade students may audition for the chorus which meets for practice during the school day at certain seasons of the school year. The chorus performs at school events and for our Partners in Education each year.  Information is available from Ann West.

 

3.)  Science Olympiad- Science Olympiad provides an opportunity for students to learn about and perform Science experiments, culminating in a Saturday Science Olympiad county wide competition.  Science Olympiad is an activity for fourth and fifth grade students.  The team practices after school on a regular basis throughout the school year, and competes with other schools each spring.  Information is available from Jack Collins.

 

4.) Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team-Helen Ruffin reading Bowl is designed to give students an opportunity to compete in reading competitions.  Macedonia fourth and fifth grade students compete to participate in the School District Bowl event.  Students read and study designated books through after school club time.  Information is available from Joanna Leifeld.

 

5.) 4-H- Are you interested in doing new things? Do you like helping your community become a better place? Do you like to take trips with your friends? Do you like archery, horses, technology, environmental science, marine science, photography, computers, art, sewing, landscaping, and performing arts: singing, dancing, playing an instrument? If you answered “Yes” to any of the above questions then 4-H is for you. See Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Webber, Mrs. Rumble, or Mrs. Buelow if you are interested in joining our 4-H Program at Macedonia for 4th or 5th graders.
