The Cherokee County School District recognizes outstanding educators with the annual Teacher of the Year program. Each school’s staff selects its own Teacher of the Year. Applications from the school-level winners are evaluated by a panel of community leaders, who select the Cherokee County Teacher of the Year in the fall. The county winner is entered as the School District’s nominee for Georgia Teacher of the Year award, which is announced in the spring. The Cherokee County and school-level winners are honored at the annual Cherokee County Teacher of the Year Banquet, which is sponsored by Northside Hospital-Cherokee and Credit Union of Georgia. Honorees enjoy an elegant dinner and tributes, are congratulated by the Superintendent and School Board and receive gifts provided by local businesses.
