“S” Endorsement for CDL License
Federal Law requires all school bus drivers to obtain an “S” endorsement (school bus only) on their Commercial Drivers License (CDL). This must be accomplished by September of 2005. In order to receive this endorsement, bus drivers are required to comply with the following:
-
Approximately 30 days prior to license expiration, or by September 2005, drivers are to come by the Transportation Department where they will issue an affidavit. This will authorize the driver to apply for endorsement.
-
A motor vehicle record (MVR) will be processed and if the following two conditions are not met then additional requirements are necessary and the driver must contact the Transportation Training Department.
-
Two years of school bus driving experience.
-
No serious traffic violation.
It is highly recommended that drivers take the practice exam linked below. With a score of 70% on the practice test the applicant is fairly assured of a passing score on the actual test.
The Training Department will provide additional study materials if they become necessary.
